How to unlock Your Vehicle

Modern electronic key fobs offer greater convenience and function compared to a traditional manual key. Batteries will eventually get worn out and need to be replaced. If your Volvo key fob has started to malfunction intermittently, it's a good sign that the battery is depleted and will need replacement in the near future.

Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can follow to replace your Volvo key fob battery on your own. First, you must locate a clean working surface to complete the procedure. Place all the tools that you'll require. Find the battery's hatch and open it using the flathead, a coin, or a similar tool. Next, carefully pry the battery out of its socket by lifting up on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Make sure that you use rubber gloves to protect the contacts or the clips.

After the battery is removed, insert the new one into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing upwards, and that all clips are seated. Then slide the cover downwards and towards the key-ring loop until it is loose and then slides off. Then, remove the cover to reveal the hidden mechanical key blade. This will be used to unlock your car by the driver's side doors if the key fob battery is dead or missing.


How to Start Your Vehicle

Most modern vehicles are equipped with key fobs that do more than simply unlock or lock the doors. They can also perform other functions like summoning and auto parking the vehicle. The new Volvo XC60 is capable of remotely starting your engine using the key fob buttons. How exactly does it work?

First, locate an area of clean work surface on which you can lay out all the necessary items needed for this project. Then, lay the fob down on the work surface, with its Volvo logo facing upward. By pressing the unlock button, you will turn off the alarm and unlock the driver's door. Repeating this action will unlock all doors as well as the tailgate. The unlock button can also be used to open the windows during the hot days or to let fresh air in before stepping out on the road. How to Replace the Battery

The process of changing the battery is simple and requires only the use of a small screwdriver, flathead, or plastic pry bar tool. Find the small slot is used to house the backup or emergency key fob made of metal. Insert the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into this slot and gently open the rear of the key fob. Once you have opened the fob, locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Replace the battery and snap back to the fob.

Note: Some older Volvos have a different battery which is the CR2025. CR2025 batteries have a thickness of 7 tenths a millimeter less than a CR2032 and you'll have to be very careful when replacing your battery.
