Gulat Freestyle
Gulat Freestyle adalah disiplin internasional dan olahraga Olimpiade, baik bagi pria maupun wanita. Dalam gaya ini melibatkan pegulat menang dengan melemparkan dan menyematkan lawannya di tikar. Sekolah tinggi dan perguruan gulat dilakukan di bawah aturan yang berbeda, disebut skolastik. Di luar AS, Orang-orang dapat menemukan pegulat profesional yang berkompetisi dengan aturan gaya bebas gulat.
Collegiate Wrestling
Collegiate gulat (kadang-kadang dikenal sebagai gulat skolastik atau folkstyle gulat) adalah nama yang umum digunakan gulat pada saat berlatih di perguruan tinggi dan universitas tingkat di Amerika Serikat. Beberapa sekolah tinggi di Amerika Serikat telah mengembangkan universitas junior dan tim mahasiswa bersama tim universitas.
Universitas dan mahasiswa gulat tim junior membatasi pesaing tidak hanya berat, tetapi juga oleh usia dan jumlah gulat pesaing. Sebagai contoh, beberapa universitas dan mahasiswa junior pesaing tidak diperbolehkan dalam kompetisi turnamen, karena jumlah waktu tikar pegulat akan bertambah dalam jangka waktu singkat. NCAA Divisi I gulat dianggap sebagai tingkat yang paling bergengsi dan menantang kompetisi.
Saat ini ada beberapa organisasi yang mengawasi kompetisi gulat perguruan
tinggi: Divisi I, II, dan III dari NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA, dan NCWA.
