Nowadays, numerous Christian men have lost all understanding of living a life of purity. The word purity is hardly ever used, even in the modern church. Sadly, we have all been sold a variety of lies. For many years, from boyhood, through teenagerhood, to manhood. We have been drip-fed lies. As we age, we end up being desensitized, and the lies end up being a growing number of strengthened in our thinking. They are verified by our battles and experiences of the world around us, and as we take a look at other Christian men, we confirm what we now think to be our new reality. So, what are these lies?

## The Worlds Big Lie vs Gods Standards

The primary lie is that purity is unattainable and out of reach. We think that it might have been attainable to men of earlier and more conservative generations. Because the sexual revolution of the 1960's, any hope of walking out a pure life has been rushed.

God sets a very high requirement when it comes to sexual purity. No ifs, no however, not even a hint. Has God set the bar too high?

God standard comes from His wisdom. He knows that if we allow even a tip of sexual immorality into our lives, we are opening a door that will be hard to close.

## The Road To Ruin is Wide and Easy

We make excuses and let in more than a tip. We enable ourselves a few indulgences once in a while. We let our guard down. Just as we take pleasure in percentage of time relaxing, viewing Netflix, consuming chocolate and possibly a red wine with supper. In the same way we permit ourselves extravagances of sexual satisfaction. We enjoy watching nudity or sex scene in the latest block buster motion picture, a glance at that skimpy jogger as she passes by, or a glimpse at adult images so easily accessed on our mobile phone.

As time passes, and as we continue to enable ourselves these small extravagances, a habit is formed. Our belief system is compromised. 'It's no big deal,' we inform ourselves. 'Everybody does it.' 'It won't harm me,' 'I just do it periodically.' Eventually, we have allowed much more than a tip of sexual immorality.

For lots of, a lifelong struggle has actually now started in the heart and mind that is not quickly gotten rid of.
As sexual sin infiltrates the mind, gradually, it starts to captivate one's heart.

## Can We Change and have Advancement?

In Romans 1, verse 25. There are 2 parts to this verse.

### Part 1

That is, overtime, we have established beliefs and presumptions about God that are wrong. These lies permeate, we start to act on these incorrect beliefs.

Sadly, we started out our Christian journey thinking that God is all that we need, and He can be all satisfying. Over time, so numerous contending voices in the world challenged that presumption. It became difficult to let go of everything the world uses and find real complete satisfaction in Him. We start to believe the lie that we require to look elsewhere for complete satisfaction.

Breakthrough comes as we turn back to God and think His word. God's word is fact, and as we press into Him and look for after Him above all else, we start to believe again that freedom and success over this sin is possible.

### Part 2

Our heart is no longer sold out for God. We are now worshiping God and worship desire at the very same time. We are now on a slippery slide away from worship of the true God towards potential damage.

When our heart is offered out for God, we start to dislike sin, we detest it. Why would we pick sin when our hearts are completely pleased by the almighty God who likes us and is there for us, even in our darkest minutes?

## Our Breakthrough Comes Through Jesus Christ

We are children of God. Positionally, we are God's own boys and children. Our identity, values and function are more clearly defined from the position of who we are as children of God.

His grace is enough for us, even in our present scenario and battles (2 Corinthians 12: 9). Jesus defeated sin once for all and he made a method for us to stand firm and overcome in the middle of trials and temptation (2 Corinthians 10: 13). We need to discover our strength in Jesus and if we put the word of God to the test, we will find in it the truth we require to experience freedom and triumph so that we can honestly say 'I am not tolerating even a hint of sexual immorality in my life.'
