5 Reasons To Consider Being An Online Over-Ear Headphones Shop And 5 Reasons Not To
Best Over-Ear Headphones

Over-ear headphones typically have longer battery lives than earbuds. They also offer superior noise cancellation.

Sony's WH1000XM5s have the best over-ear headphones that feature wireless technology. They sound great with a deep bass that allows vocals and other instruments to shine. With active noise cancellation (ANC) turned on, they last over 40 hours with a single charge.

Focal Bathys Wireless

The Focal Bathys wireless are a high-end audiophile entry into the popular premium Bluetooth headphone market, which has been dominated for a long time by Bose. However, with a track record of making the highest quality high-fidelity loudspeakers, Focal couldn't simply scale down to compete in this competitive space. Therefore, it decided to design its own earbuds with built-in ANC and the same transducers and amplifiers found in its flagship products.

The result is a pair of headphones that offer top-notch performance, but also feel sturdy and luxurious. Focal reduced the size and weight of its more upmarket headphones to make these lightweight headphones more comfortable for travel however, they still use magnesium for the yokes to keep them light. The design is sleek and stylish, with a the circular, "skeletonised", design like Focal's high-end Focal celestee headphones. LED backlit Focal logos are located on the side of the headphone and actually glow.

When paired with your device, they run on the most recent Bluetooth v5.1 technology with support for SBC, AAC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive, and a built-in DAC that can support up to 24-bit/192kHz playback. The ear cups fold flat for convenient storage, and the cable can be detachable to use with other devices that don't have Bluetooth as well as many cell phones.

For audio enthusiasts who really know their stuff the headphones can be used in DAC mode, which disables the internal processing and delivers superior sound quality than the majority of Bluetooth headphones that have a built-in DAC. Focal declined to reveal the specific DAC they used, but when tested with a high-quality portable DAC/headphone amp, the Bathys delivered great results--including better-than-CD-quality resolution, tight bass, and an open, airy midrange.

jbl over ear headphones were created to be used on planes in noisy environments and other locations. However, the DAC mode makes them perfect for listening with greater attention. The Bathys are a great alternative to the closed-back headphones that are tuned for bass. These headphones would make a great gift for anyone who is an audiophile on your list.

JBL Tune 760NC

The JBL Tune-760NC is a lightweight comfortable pair of headphones that have active noise cancellation. They feature a bass profile that gives your sound depth, and an extended battery life. The headphones are also built to last, making them ideal for use on commutes and trips. However their snug fit could make uncomfortable for long listening sessions.

The headphones come with a set of controls that you can use to control the music as well as your call settings. They include buttons for volume levels up down, power and ANC on/off. The buttons are enclosed by a small section that is lit by an LED, and you can tap on it to change the headphone's lighting display. The headphones are comfortable to fit and are padded, however they do not sit well on your head and might be uncomfortable for listeners who wear glasses.

JBL's Active Noise Cancellation technology reduces ambient noise by analyzing and interpret the sounds coming from outside the headphone. It then inverts these sounds and cancels out, creating a quieter listening space. This lets you listen at lower volume and avoid the ear fatigue. The headphones also have an audio jack that lets you make calls hands-free and also activate voice assistants.

These headphones are compatible with a wide range of Bluetooth devices including your computer and a majority of mobile phones. These headphones work with the majority of PS4 and Xbox One Controllers for receiving audio but not for communication with other players. The USB port allows you to charge them and listen to audio through your computer.

The JBL 760NCs are made to be compact, with a compact foldable design that makes them easy to pack and take to wherever you go. They come with a built-in battery that can last for up to 40 hours of continuous use and come with noise cancellation technology to block out any distractions. They can connect to two Bluetooth devices at the same time, so you don't have to miss a beat when switching from watching a film on your tablet to making a phone call.

Skullcandy Riff Wireless

Skullcandy Riff Wireless 2 is a pair of headphones on-ear that offer the features people would expect from on-ear Bluetooth headphones. They provide a reasonable price and a battery that lasts all day as well as an aux cable backup and peace of mind thanks to Tile finding technology. It also comes with an easy set of controls on the earcup and is able to connect to both wireless and wired devices. The Riff Wireless headphones come with an app that lets you personalize your listening experience. It also lets you to reduce audio and video delays when paired with smart tvs or computers, and also set up a multi-device pairs.

These headphones are very comfortable and have a cushioned headband. They are designed for travel and commute. They can be folded to make it easy to store in backpacks or bags. They have a plasticky build quality, but are fairly durable and have a strong click when you move or flex them. They don't have noise cancellation which can be a challenge for some users, but they do block out the low buzz of buses and chatter.

The sound quality on these headphones is good, especially considering their budget price. The midranges are not as luscious as some of the more expensive headphones, but they still have good detail at all levels of volume. The bass is powerful and punchy, while the highs are slightly soft, but not too loud. They are great for pop and rock but may not be the best option for genres that feature deep, full bass.

Compared to the older version of these headphones, the Riff Wireless 2 have more features. They have an unison sound profile, which could appeal to certain users. They also have better microphone performance and support various devices. They also have an increased volume and have longer battery life.

They're a good pair of headphones, but don't offer the same level of comfort as some other Skullcandy models, such as the Hesh 3 Wireless. They're still a great choice for the majority of users however they're not the best choice for intense use, and they can fall off during high-intensity exercise.

Razer Opus

The Opus is the first attempt by Razer at creating a lifestyle headphone. It's a great product. Its target market is likely to be broader than gamers and it comes with a premium sound that rivals top-of-the-line models from Sony and Bose at a price that is affordable.

The design is restricted by Razer standards: there's no RGB lighting or trademark green accents and the Tri-Snake logo is not to be visible. The headset is similar to any other Bluetooth headphone, sporting semicircle swivel hinges that fold flat and pivot over the earcups, forming an adjustable and comfortable headband. They're also more lightweight and portable than other gaming headsets, weighing just 265g when collapsed.

On the right earcup is the onboard controls. Controls for track and power buttons are located close to a multi-function button recessed into it that also doubles as a noise-cancellation button. The controls are easy to use and responsive, and they worked as advertised in my testing.

The Opus' bass has a punchy, well-rounded sound with depth and clarity that you won't get from many budget headphones. The sound is not as full-bodied as Bose's Extra Bass, but it's far superior for a $200 price tag. Mids are solid and vocals as well as lead instruments can be heard clearly with good clarity. I did notice a little low-end slackness however changing the EQ to the Vocal preset resolved the issue.

In the case that you carry, you'll also get the 3.5mm audio cable and USB C-to-A converter and a standard airplane audio plug for those who haven't switched yet. It's a small, but appreciated addition that makes it easier to use headphones while traveling.

As with other THX-certified products, the Opus performed admirably in my tests. I was able to walk through the city without having to increase the volume to overcome the background noise, and I never felt as if I had to turn my music up just to hear it. That's the kind of quality that can help you avoid hearing loss due to excessive exposure to high-frequency frequencies.
