Role

We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our well-established, multi-disciplinary team of creative professionals. We offer an accredited training scheme to support you in obtaining a professional qualification. Typical responsibilities could include:
Developing sustainable design solutions for building environments
Working with building users and clients to agree design briefs that respond to users’ needs
Designing environmental and energy strategies and masterplans
Developing thermal and energy models to analyse building physics
Collaborating with architects and other designers in meetings and workshops to prepare and coordinate integrated building designs
Designing, calculating and specifying building services systems
Spatial coordination, including the use of 3D and Building Information modelling (BIM)
Preparing sketches, drawings and models
Undertaking technical studies and writing reports
Visiting construction sites and liaising with contractors and commissioning engineers
Carrying out visual surveys and investigations

You will provide support to team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experts in the following fields: Electrical Engineers, Public Health Engineers, Structural Engineers, Fire Engineers, Acousticians, Cost Consultants, Architects and Project Managers.

We encourage our Graduate Mechanical Engineers to demonstrate creative problem solving, innovation, drive and motivation, a willingness to learn about our sector, and a desire to effectively deliver an excellent service to our clients.

As such, we are looking for the following qualifications, skills and attributes in you:

Qualifications:
Either a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or other related discipline, at 2.1 or above
Studying, or have studied, an IMechE, CIBSE or Engineering Council accredited course

Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team working and collaboration
Attention to detail and accuracy in your work
Understanding the needs of clients and the project team members
Strong analytical skills
Commercial awareness
An understanding of and an interest in sustainability
An understanding of Revit or 3D modelling software is an advantage, but is not essential

Behaviours

Enthusiasm for a career in building design, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work

Additional Information

The deadline for applications is Sunday 6th December 2015. Assessment sessions will take place in our London office in December 2015 and January 2016.
The Graduate Welcome and Skills Week will take place in September 2016. Although we can be flexible on start dates we would hope that the successful candidate will join their peers for this event.
