The Most Underrated Companies To Follow In The Causes Of Mesothelioma Other Than Asbestos Industry
Mesothelioma Causes Other Than Asbestos

Asbest has been a cause of asbestos exposure for millions of Americans. While this mineral is the leading mesothelioma-related cause, other causes have been linked to this disease.

Mesothelioma is a result of asbestos fibers that are inhaled or ingested. These fibers can penetrate the linings of the lungs or the protective linings of the abdomen.

Doctors diagnose mesothelioma using imaging and blood tests. They cannot confirm mesothelioma unless they have a sample of tissue.

1. Radiation exposure

Despite the many media myths, mesothelioma almost exclusively results from exposure to asbestos. Even a small amount of exposure can trigger the cancer, which is found in the lining around the lungs, the heart and abdomen. Exposure to radiation or other sources may increase the risk of mesothelioma however, they are less frequent causes than asbestos.

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer, is described as a type of cancer due to abnormal cells which grow and divide uncontrollably. The cancer cells develop into tumors, which can infiltrate nearby organs and tissues. Mesothelioma cancer cells can also spread to distant parts of your body via blood vessels or lymphatics.

Asbestos exposure is the main cause of mesothelioma. it is responsible for up to the 80% of cases. Mesothelioma is more prevalent in people who have been exposed to asbestos when working in fields such as construction, mining, or the military. The exposure usually occurs through inhalation or ingestion of asbestos fibers that can become lodged in the lungs or stomach.

Smoking and a family history of cancer are also risk factors. Asbestos workers may bring asbestos fibers home on their clothing and skin, increasing the risk that their relatives will be exposed to cancer-causing chemicals.

Recurrences of mesothelioma can occur after a patient undergoes treatment for another disease or cancer. Patients who have had surgery to treat chest cancers like pleuro-pleural or lung cancer are at a higher chance of having a mesothelioma recurrence.

The diagnosis of mesothelioma is made by a physical examination, medical history, imaging tests and other procedures like a biopsy. The most common treatments for mesothelioma are chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy. Patients may also undergo immunotherapy or targeted therapy. The surgery involves removing the tumors and any tissue affected by them. Chemotherapy is a drug-based treatment that reduces or kills cancerous cells. Radiation therapy uses radiation to kill tumors and prevent the growth or spread of tumors. The targeted therapy and immunotherapy involve using medicines to encourage the immune system to fight the cancer.

2. Erionite

Mesothelioma most commonly occurs after exposure to asbestos. However there are many other causes for this type of cancer. Erionite is among of the most intriguing. It is a component of the natural zeolite mineral and has been proven to cause mesothelioma. This is a serious disease and anyone who has been exposed should seek medical help immediately.

When the linings of organs in the body develop abnormalities and grow uncontrollably, it is called mesothelioma. Most often, this occurs in the lungs. It can also affect the heart, stomach and other parts of the body. Mesothelioma most commonly affects men. It is also more common in people who have been exposed to asbestos over a long period of time or to various asbestos types.

Exposure to asbestos may cause mesothelioma due to the needle-like fibers it produces. The fibers can be lodged in the lungs as well as other parts of the human body when people breathe them in. A biopsy is a way to identify mesothelioma. Doctors can determine whether the cancer is sarcomatoid epithelioid biphasic.

Asbestos is only one of a number of potential chemicals that can cause mesothelioma. However, the disease has also been associated with coal dust and other sources of natural Zeolite minerals. Mesothelioma could also be caused by certain substances or bacteria that cause lung damage and inflammation.

In the past asbestos was thought to be the only substance that could cause mesothelioma in humans. However, recent research has shown that a similar mineral to asbestos called erionite can also cause mesothelioma. In fact, erionite is much more mesothelioma-inducing than any of the known asbestos minerals. It is essential to test any asbestos-like substance for mesothelioma. The CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has published specific guidelines on this problem. There are several different reviews available on the mineralogy of erionite and its health impacts (International Agency for Research on Cancer 2009; Mumpton 1999). Michele Carbone has written a fantastic article on the mesothelioma risks of erionite in Cappadocia Turkey.

3. SV40 Viral

Mesothelioma, a deadly type of cancer, is a disease that affects the thin tissue layer that covers our internal organs. This rare form of cancer is typically caused by exposure to asbestos in the workplace. But there are some cases that are not linked to asbestos exposure. Mesothelioma can be classified as peritoneal or pleural, which affects tissue around our abdominal organs, or pericardial. It is a rare type of the disease that affects the tissue surrounding the heart. Some studies suggest a virus called SV40 could be the reason for mesothelioma.

Researchers working on polio vaccination in the 1950s grew their attenuated, live virus on minced rhesus kidney cells. Unfortunately certain monkeys were infected with a simian virus which caused contamination of the polio vaccination. Many people who received the vaccine in the United States, and elsewhere, developed mesothelioma.

Researchers have found SV40 within mesothelioma cancers however there is some debate regarding the link. It is possible that SV40 simply contaminated the tissue in the laboratory and did not cause mesothelioma. The SV40 gene is involved in cell division and it could also be integrated into the chromosomes of human cells. This has prompted some to suggest that the virus is linked with mesothelioma because it increases the chance of developing other types of cancer.

Other mesothelioma risks are not causing an increase in the risk of contracting the disease. They include a mineral called Erionite, which is found in Turkey, radiotherapy for other illnesses and talcum, which is used more frequently by women than men. Understanding the risks associated with mesothelioma may help doctors detect the disease earlier, which can enhance the outcome for patients. Recognizing other risk factors can be a key factor in developing more effective prevention strategies. Mesothelioma can be a very aggressive cancer that is diagnosed early and prompt treatment are critical to a patient's survival. As more details are revealed about the causes of the disease, more people will be diagnosed, and more lives will saved.

4. Talcum Powder

The majority of mesothelioma cases are triggered by exposure to asbestos, a class of tiny fibres. Mesothelioma is a cancer that develops in the tissues surrounding the lungs, abdomen, and heart. The symptoms usually manifest more than 20 years following exposure to asbestos. Asbestos exposure is mostly found in the workplace. The most at-risk are miners, those who make asbestos-containing products in factories, automobile and railroad workers (asbestos is used to line train cars and engine parts) gas masks made of asbestos and insulation manufacturers, shipbuilders, construction workers, and painters. The family members of those working in these fields can be at risk of contracting mesothelioma from secondhand exposure from asbestos that is brought home on clothing.

Asbestos fibres are tiny and can enter the lung. They can remain there for the rest of your life. The fibres can then irritate the cells until they are damaged enough to develop into cancerous tumors.

Mesothelioma can affect the lining of the chest (pleura), the stomach (peritoneum), and the lining that surrounds the heart (pericardium). In rare cases mesothelioma can be found in the testes' lining (tunica vaginalis). All forms of asbestos, including chrysotile have been associated with mesothelioma.

The exposure to talcum could increase the risk of developing mesothelioma. mesothelioma caused by asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral made from magnesium silicate. It is commonly used as a baby powder and can be found in some cosmetics. When asbestos-contaminated talcum powder is inhaled, it can irritate the lungs and cause them to develop tumours. In addition to mesothelioma, asbestos-contaminated talcum powder can cause ovarian cancer in women. A study in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention showed that African American women who used talcum powder on their genitals were at an increased risk of 44% of ovarian cancer.

Men are more likely to develop mesothelioma since they are exposed asbestos most often at work. However, it can also affect people of all ages. The duration and the amount of exposure to asbestos are the most important variables in determining a person's likelihood for mesothelioma. The risk is greater for those who were exposed the most asbestos at a young age and for a longer time.
