15 Interesting Facts About Replacement Key For Renault Clio That You Never Known
Renault Keys - How They Work

Renaults utilize a very complicated system as far as the immobiliser and keys go. This can make the process of replacing keys extremely time-consuming. Unless you have access to the car and are able to bring it in to us to program it through the diagnostic socket, it will be very time-consuming.

Keys

The Renault Group is more well-known for its vans, buses and tractors, but they also produce cars. The company was founded in 1899. It is a huge and well-established business with an extensive range of cars. You will need a new key in the event that you lose or damage your car keys. Why not let us order one for you instead of waiting for your local dealer to order one and then wait longer for it to arrive? At KeyNOW we can replace a remote or smart key for you quickly.

If you require a Renault Clio V, Captur 2 or New Zoe spare key we can provide you with a mechanical code to purchase your new key through the dealer. We can also reset your Renault Kangoo Traffic or Master key.

Renault has a long track record of innovation. It was the first company to have utilized remote central locking on a production vehicle. This technology was invented by Paul Lipschultz for his employer Niemens, a supplier of security components to the automotive industry. This breakthrough was a massive leap for safety in cars.

Remotes

Despite smartphones seeming to be close to replacing them, the hands-free cards of Renault continue to be used widely in their vehicles. In fact, they're included in the majority of vehicles Renault sells, and their use has increased in recent years. In this video Pascaline from Renault's Products Division describes how these cards work.

Renaults have a complex immobiliser system, so it's important to be aware of the basics before you attempt to unlock a car without keys. Certain cars come with an emergency lock fitted to the handle of the passenger door, which can be used in the event that the keys stop working or the battery runs out. This is an option for those who do not want to hire a professional locksmith.

You'll need a tool such as the slim jim or pump-up if you want to remove the key fob. If you don't have these tools, you could need to use an hammer and screwdriver to remove the cylinder.

You should be able to get through the passenger door and you will see an unassuming lock that is inserted into the side panel of the driver just next to the door handle. This is a security measure to prevent thieves from accidentally taking the vehicle of another or locking themselves in their own. It's a simple but effective security feature that can help you save time and effort when you need to get into your car.

Transponders

Transponders are installed on many modern cars to protect against theft of cars. These small devices are fitted to the key fob and include chips that communicate with the car whenever it is within range. These chips use a distinct code to identify the key and tell it which vehicle it's paired with.

The chip transmits an electrical signal that is picked up by a pair of coils fitted around the barrels of ignition inside the vehicle. The coils are activated when you turn the key and send a pulse electromagnetic energy to the chip. The chip then responds by sending an unique identification code to the car. The unique code will be used to unlock doors and start the car.

Similar technology was employed in military aircraft during the World War 2 era to aid air traffic controllers in identifying them on radar. The aviation industry still utilizes this type of chip code message.

Up until recently the systems were believed to be unclone-proof. This was due to the fact that there were only 74 Quadrillion (74,000,000,000,000,000) possible codes for each transponder. But the technology behind these chips has since been upgraded and they are now no longer completely duplicate-proof. This has made many locksmiths in the auto industry to upgrade their skills by learning how to read, write and program these newer kinds.

Immobilisers

Renaults are quite complicated in the way they function when it comes to their keys and immobilisers. There are two main systems that affect the way that a replacement key will be programmed to the car. The older system uses an "kill switch" that connects to one of the important car starting parts in order to turn it off if the right key is not present. renault key fob are extremely delicate and require a trained technician to correctly detect and fix the issue should they fail.

The latest system is easier to use. It uses advanced cryptography and rolling security codes to prevent copying the code from the ECU or key. This is what will be used in the replacement keys we supply.

Certain models even come with an exclusive ring antenna that cannot be detected by transponder scanners and is unique to the vehicle. This is a great way to prevent hotwiring, and is also difficult to bypass with a standard key or transponder emulator. We have a product dubbed the Renault Antenna Emulator that we can use in order to bypass this immobiliser on Renault Clio phase 2 models and some Renault commercial vehicle fitted with ID46 Transponders. It emulates the operation of a genuine key transponder within the ring antenna. It can be used to replace lost or failed keys without having to disassemble the ECU. It has been tested and endorsed by Thatcham in order to provide further peace of mind for motor insurance customers.
