The controversial Socorro BAyanihan Services, Inc., (SBSI) is clearly acting as a cult and the real leader is hiding behind Jey Rence Quillaro, known as Senior Agila.
At the end of the Senate investigation led by the Senate Committee on public order and dangerous drugs and the Senate committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, the lawmakers agreed that the indication is clear that the organization is a cult and its glider is just a figurehead based in Surigao Del Norte.
"Clearly there we see the group started as a legitimate people's organization...that slowly transformed into a cult. By definition of a cult, blind obedience, strong reverence to a single personality exists in that group," according to Dela Rosa.
The Senate began an investigation Thursday into the alleged cult accused of trafficking, kidnapping, sexually abusing children, training children as soldiers, and practicing child marriages. Some victims who attended the hearing admitted that Senior Agila who claimed to be "God" forced them to join the activity and follow his orders to enter Heaven.
According to Dela Rosa, former national police chief, there is no reason for child victims to lie.
"You can just imagine, girl...12 years old has no reason to say that, to the point that they even expose the...destruction of their kind, of their femininity, about rape and about forced sex, forced marriages,” insisted the senator.
Dela Rosa said the organization is controlled by people behind Quilario, the alleged leader of the group.
"He was only used there as a symbol, his possession of divine powers was used to command adherence and loyalty from the subjects," according to Dela Rosa.
In fact, according to Dela Rosa, leader Quilario, 22 years old, is begging because he has no education.
The Senate discovered that Quilario's current control is SBSI Vice President Mamerto Galanida who is the best orator who can convince the members that everything they see is white, but in reality it is red.
Aside from Galanida, SBSI leader Janeth Ajoc, and Karren Sanico Jr., who are behind the organization that dictated to Quilario, are among the leaders, according to Dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa further revealed that based on the testimony of the witness, the SBSI has its own private army with guns and many foxholes around its headquarters in the mountain.
Jeng Plaza, Quilario's former cook and former member of its army, further disclosed that the six-year-old and seven-year-old children were grouped together and said to have joined their soldiers in the barracks.
"The SBSI's soldiers are being deployed around the community to guard the area," according to Dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa further said that the order of the Senate to detain Qulario, Galanida, Ajoc, and Sanico will stand.
The Senate will work with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safe conduct of the next hearing to be held in Socorro.
