IL CONFUCIANESIMO
Il confucianesimo è una filosofia morale, non una religione. Fu fondato da Confucio (vero nome Kong Fuzi) nato nel 551 a.C. Il confucianesimo si è sviluppato in Cina nel periodo degli stati combattenti (476-221 a.C.). Confucio è stato il primo maestro cinese. Nacque nel principato di Lu (odierno Shandong). Ricevette un’educazione nobiliare e si occupò della revisione di antichi testi. Fu colui che disse: “Non fare agli altri ciò che non vuoi sia fatto a te.”
L’obiettivo di Confucio era far rivivere il passato, recuperando le antiche istituzioni e gli antichi valori. In questo modo, secondo lui, si poteva arrivare ad un’armonia universale, cioè a ciò che i taoisti chiamano Tao. Per i confuciani il Tao è l’obiettivo; per i taoisti è il punto di partenza. Confucio, quindi, non si è presentato come il fondatore di una corrente di pensiero bensì come un mediatore tra gli antichi e il popolo cinese.

Per Confucio l’uomo è essenzialmente buono e per far sviluppare appieno questa bontà esso va educato con il buon esempio (il buon esempio per Confucio era quello degli antichi). Da ciò si evince anche il motivo per cui i cinesi sono così abili nel copiare ed abbiano poco sviluppato la loro originalità: perché il confucianesimo li portava
