Dear Professor Soldwedel,
I hope all is going well.
My name is Douae Boukoub and I have a hero story that I would like to tell. I am one of the people who got stuck in America because of covid-19. I didn`t plan to study my high school in this country. My plan was to come here for only two months just because I had to fix some of documents as my "green card" and go back to my country again, but the pandemic was spreading rapidly, and I could not return to Morocco. I was not ready for this because my plan was to go to college here, not high school. I was stranded and had no choice but to register for school in this foreign place. I was placed in 11th grade when I was supposed to be in 12th. I was so baffled as to why I was forced to lose one year of my education; I could not accept it. I became angry and began to cry. The second thing i wasn`t ready for is speaking in another language. I knew how to speak, but I was terribly timid. I became afraid to make mistakes, not wanting others to laugh at me or just ignore me. The only thing that I had was my family and friends; they always called to support me. Their beautiful words made me feel loved and warmed my heart.
Even of all that happened to me, I am still believing in myself that I can face more bigger challenges and become stronger. This challenge allowed me to experience new things such as having my first job which was as a cashier at kohl's store which I really liked. It was good for me because I never worked before so i wanted to see how I am going to be there. I am looking to have more good experiences without any lack of motivation.
