The most famous celebrities sport MSCHF's Big Red Boots
The world of footwear is currently on the edge of a rollercoaster ride of fun-footwear. It could be Miu Miu’s mini skirt, that became a fashion independently or Balenciaga's clown shoes that brought Kylie Jenner to the forefront of a cult movement. The large rubber boots modeled after Astro Boy's sneakers were all across social media in the weeks following the release of Big Red Boots by New York-based MSCHF. They're featured in selfies, gifs as well as hot takes. In front-row shows and fashion shoots, they are also in videos where people attempt to remove them (and fail).


Some have dubbed the boots "clowncore," while others call them an experiment-slash-fashion-forward gimmick that's causing everyone to reconsider what's considered acceptable footwear. A few have questioned the cost of $350, and others ridicule the notion of someone spending so much cash on shoes that look like they belong to Ronald McDonald or Dora the Explorer.


However, while MSCHF has a reputation of contesting conventions through staged shows or releasing products which are utterly contrary to the norm and the Big Red Boots actually make sense. The world is entering a new age of fashion that is embracing snark after years of practical pandemic clothes. This is evident in the way celebrities and influencers are wearing these shoes. Everyone from Lil Wayne, to Janelle monae is slipping on the cartoonish shoes.



The singer was in town last week "Yoga" singer appeared effortlessly at the 2023 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Salt Lake City in a pair of MSCHF's Big Red Boots in a one-of-a-kind custom style. The light blue pair she wore diverged from the original crimson shade for a blue-toned hue which was then smacked with a wacky cloud print, and she was dressed in a leather miniskirt and black jacket that resembled a varsity.


Diplo wore MSCHF's controversial shoes as he wore them with black and yellow striped oversized shorts as well as a white button-down shirt. During 1:1 Replica ' win against the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center on February. 11 DJ Steve Aoki wore his with a black hoodie, tie-dye T-shirt. Coi Leray who performed at the same venue on February 19, wore hers with a matching pair of baggy jeans and T-shirt decorated with colorful clouds.


MSCHF offers its Big Red Boots on its website. They're $350. StockX is also offering them on sale.
