1.1 Photosynthesis
-> Process which takes in carbon dioxide, water and sunlight into oxygen and glucose.
Carbon Dioxide + Water (with the help of sunlight) = Oxygen + Glucose
a) Light
-> Makes photosynthesis take place and plants make food. Without light, Plants can't live without food.
b) Chlorophyll
-> Is round, oval shaped, green, absorbs sunlight and is found in chloroplasts. Has 2 membranes (outer and inner) and photosynthesis takes place here, mostly located in the palisade layer.
c) Stomata
-> Microscopic holes on the epidermis, exchange gasses (carbon dioxide, oxygen and water vapour) and mostly found on the lower epidermis to prevent loss of water vapour. Stomata opens when light is present (absorbs water) and closes when light is absent (doesn't absorb water).
d) Glucose
-> Conversion from light energy to chemical energy. Some is converted to starch (roots, stem) and fats (seeds as oil); some can be converted to cellulose and protein to build cell walls and form new plant structure.
