Sony WH-1000XM5
The WH-1000XM5 headphones from Sony are the latest upgrade to their best-in-class noise cancellation range. They sport a new design, improved ANC and a lot of the same features as their predecessors but with better materials and slightly higher quality sound.
They're light for over-ear ANC headphones at just 250g. This makes them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time, even if you're listening to a podcast or reading a book. The headband is supple, and it features an ear-friction rod design similar to the Grado Labs SR60x that prevents your ears from getting too cold.
The WH-1000XM5 has a sound signature that has been designed to please people who listen to music for pleasure as well as serious audiophiles. audio headphones is tuned with a slight increase in bass, yet it's not abrasive or blazing. The earcups also have touch controls that are responsive and intuitive to use. Swipe up or down to change the volume. You can also swipe forward to listen to the next song, backwards to hear the previous track. The headphones can connect to two devices simultaneously, and will automatically pause playback when you remove them from your head, thanks to the built-in sensor. You can also switch on the ambient mode by placing your palm on the right ear cup and allowing you to listen to what's happening around you without taking off the headphones.
Other features that are useful include the ability to pair them with your voice assistant, Bluetooth low-energy, and support for hi-res audio (via LDAC). They come with a sturdy carrying case made of top quality fabric, as well as an USB-C cable for charging. The headphones are compatible with most Android and iOS smartphones, as well as with computers running Windows and macOS. The WH-1000XM5's battery life is awe-inspiring. The WH1000XM5 has a great microphone that can be used for voice calls. There is no muffled or static sound in the background. The noise cancellation is top-quality and they're a perfect option for public transport as well as the office.

Similar to the original PX7 The headphones sport a sleekly refined look, with accent rings around each earcup, and a silver-colored headband. The memory foam earcups fit well, but not too tightly on the cranium. The new form and shape was refined over a period of time, and delivers a soft clamping pressure that isn't into my rotund skull.
They're 2 ounces lighter (or 307g) and a little thinner than the Sony WH1000XM5. Sennheiser HD 800 S
The HD 800 S is a successor to the iconic Sennheiser headphones and was made to meet the highest expectations. The technical design was designed to give an incredible detail resolution that covers the entire frequency spectrum, dynamic range and stereo panorama. It also delivers the most realistic sound you'll hear on a pair of open-back headphones.
The headphone has an impedance of 300 ohms therefore it requires a premium headphone amplifier that can drive it at the right levels, without distortion. It is recommended to use a balanced connection, which will increase the output and enhance the quality of sound.
The headphones are designed for a professional use and have a sturdy metal frame, with a mixture of leather and plastic. The design is minimalistic and they don't look fancy however the quality of the headphones and their construction are top-quality. They come with a carry pouch and an extra audio cable and an 1/4" to 1/8" adapter.
With a neutral sound profile the HD 800 S reproduces natural instruments and vocals, though they are somewhat light on bass. This is because the open-back design creates a large and out-of-head passive soundstage. Their treble performance is excellent with only minor dips and peaks. The treble region is extremely smooth, meaning you shouldn't have any issues hitting sibilants or the upper impact of the snare drum.
They can still provide impact as well as dynamism and impact when required, despite the absence of a loud low-end. They'll still be a great choice for those who enjoy listening to rock music that has powerful basslines, but they may not be as enjoyable as some of the competing models on this list such as the HiFiMan Arya.
In the mids, these Sennheiser headphones are difficult to beat. They are a linear pair with a slight scoop on the upper mids that won't be noticed by the majority of listeners. They are also able to reproduce precise time gradations in vocals which is a huge plus.
The HD 800 S is a pair of headphones that are perfect for professionals and audiophiles. Their outstanding sonic performance and comfortable fit make them an excellent choice. They're costly however you're buying headphones that will last for many years to come and perform well in any environment.
Anker Soundcore Life q20
The Anker Soundcore Life Q20 are a decent pair of headphones that will do the trick for anyone looking to relax or simply needs a cheap set of noise cancelling headphones. The headphones come with a simple bag that will protect them when you throw them in bags. Their battery can last multiple long-haul flights. Their ANC is capable of blocking out chatty seatmates and engine rumbles when on the plane, but their audio profile is a bit warmer and bass-heavy.
The controls on the Life Q20 are well-marked and easy to use. On the left ear cup, you'll find buttons for powering up and pairing the headphones and for turning on or off active noise cancellation. On the right ear cup, you'll find media playback controls, including a multi-function button which lets you turn on the voice assistant on your phone and turn on the Anker's BassUp feature (more on that later). The built-in microphone can be used to make calls using hands-free technology.
Anker's Soundcore Q20 headphone offers a deep immersive listening experience thanks to its custom 40 mm dynamic driver that provides certified Hi-Res audio. The headphones have the treble range to go up to 40 kHz. Their active noise cancellation is specifically designed to block out a broad range of low- and mid-frequency sound.
Anker Soundcore Q20 doesn't support aptX. This is a disappointment. This means that you won't not be able to take advantage of the better codes' lower latency while playing games on your computer.
The Life Q20's headband as well as memory foam earcups are soft enough to be worn for extended periods of time without discomfort. The ear cups can also rotate to adapt to your unique head shape. The included 3.5mm audio cable lets you to listen to music while charging the battery.
