It is hooked up to the BMW's CAN data network and is programmed with a secure, unique PIN code that is accessible via buttons that are installed in your car. This allows you to enter the key push sequence that is not in the normal menus for media, such as volume up/down or source, cruise control or air conditioning on, which prevents your car from starting unless the sequence is entered. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it very difficult for thieves to guess.

In addition, we can also add a service or valet mode to the system, this is activated when the car is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is hidden from the garage. This can be achieved by pressing the service button on your infotainment system five times (the system will flash to confirm this) and then when you return the Ghost will automatically arm again.

Service / Valet Mode

Anti-Hijack

With high-tech thieves becoming more advanced, the technology in security systems has to change, that's why Ghost has developed this discreet and unobtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create an unique push-sequence which must be entered before your engine can be started.

When the anti-hijacking feature is activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be thwarted. The system will hone the horn flashing the indicators, and stop the vehicle if the code is not found. By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to start temporarily without having to enter PIN.

If you have a GPS device connected to your BMW and you want to utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system when the vehicle is in a parking spot. If you own a smartphone, you can also connect it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control


We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile app for remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful when you have to go somewhere else and valet or mechanic needs to start your vehicle. The system will allow you to turn the car on, select drive and leave service mode without having keys. You can also view your vehicle in real-time on a map on your smartphone, perfect for tracking your car whilst moving around.

The Ghost can be positioned on the dashboard or in the center console. It is completely concealed and secure, and doesn't require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique pin code is programmed in it. The pin code needs to be entered before the engine starts. This stops thieves from gaining access to the system using an unauthorized clone or replacement ECU.

If your vehicle is stolen the Ghost will enter service mode and stop all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This feature was created to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who utilize relay boxes to take it. It also stops thieves from using their mobile phone to turn on your sat nav system or mp3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost can also prevent 'Relay-style Frequency Amplification'. This is the most common way that a vehicle is being stolen using a key fob that has been copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost lets you stop this kind of theft by installing a device called Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device installs inside the key-fob in your vehicle and removes the battery after a short period of inactivity, this can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
