20 Reasons Why Saab Key Fob Will Never Be Forgotten
How to Replace a Saab 93 Key Fob

Every car must have a key fob that has a remote or transmitter that can lock and unlock your car. The batteries in these devices could be faulty.

If you are looking at purchasing a Saab 93 and don't have two keys, you could add one for around $400. This is done by purchasing a TWICE Module that is brand new from the dealer, then installing it with a handheld device dubbed a Tech2.

Key Replacement

A lot of used Saabs have only one key. It is a good idea as soon as possible, to buy a spare key. It will cost less than replacing the entire vehicle in case you lose it. It is also essential to rotate your keys on a regular basis to avoid all the wear and tear and also to keep them clean.

If you lose your sole key, you'll have to replace the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE (Theft Warning Integrated Central Electronics) module together with a new key and a unique program to convince the car that you are not trying to steal it. The replacement of these modules can cost over $400 and the components are shipped out, so it is not a one-time job for locksmiths, or dealers.

The positive side is that many modern Saab vehicles can have an additional key that can be added to the system without replacing the original computer in the vehicle. The dealer will utilize a handheld computer known as Tech-2 to program the second key into the vehicle. Certain independent garages can also do this however the process is more complicated. They will have to reprogram the EEPROM of your car's computer to accept the new key.

Saab owners who have lost their key last year or had it stolen require to replace it as quickly as they can. The steps to obtain a working 9-3 Saab fob are through the service department of the dealer and will cost hundreds of dollars, including an additional key and TWICE module, which is a central electronic that can be used to detect theft.

If you have a spare key, it is much less expensive. The new key should be compatible to the original module and a second-hand key is not likely to work in this way, but genuine OEM replacement can usually be purchased from the dealer at only a fraction of the price.

Finding the right case for a brand new SAAB key fob is fairly simple. Use a flathead to pry open the case however be careful to avoid damaging the electronics inside. After you have removed the electronics and battery and battery, you can put a new case into the existing shell of the fob. Make sure that you align the two pieces and then gently press them in place until they click into place. Once the new fob is installed you can resynchronize it. If your car's ignition key doesn't engage in the ignition, or doesn't begin when you press the starter button, first make sure the transmission is in Park. This will stop your car from moving if the lock on your transmission fails, or in the event that your manual transmission is pushed into gear.

In the majority of instances, it's the electronic components on the key fob, which control how the car recognises the key once it's put into the ignition. The key made of metal is relatively easy to copy however, the electronic component in the key fob is what makes the car recognize the key.

This is not something a locksmith can do. It must be handled by a dealer, or an exclusive handheld computer called Tech2. This is not something a locksmith can do, it needs to be done through a dealer or a handheld computer that is called a Tech2.

The good news is that if you have one working key fob, the cost of adding another should be under $200 or as much. The other expense is the actual production of the metal key, if you need it. A majority of dealers also do this, but it may take a couple of weeks to get the part and car programmed.

The Saab 9-3's cabin is designed with the driver in mind, with logical layouts and an olfactory feel to its controls. The dashboard of the Saab 9-3 has been designed to arc around the driver and has a turbo vacuum gauge which makes for a unique touch. A leather-wrapped steering column has audio, cruise control, and phone controls.

The console in between the seats has only one cupholder, while the knobs for the Bose audio and dual-zone climate controls are placed well. A touch-screen display integrates navigation and music functions, but the device can be distracting when driving.

The 9-3 is a good performer in terms of power. The base low pressure turbo model takes about 8 seconds to reach speeds of 60 mph, while the more powerful Viggen can reach 60 mph in just 6.9 second.

The key to this car's success is its excellent handling. Despite its heavy nose and 60/40 front-to-rear weight distribution, the Turbo X feels agile and well-balanced on two-lane highways.

The only downside to this car's impressive dynamics is its fuel consumption. The turbocharged 2.0-liter motor is able to get around 27 mpg when in the city and 35 on the highway. The Turbo X special edition with more power will be available in 2008 only. This model comes with a unique rear-seat that can be folded into the floor to make more space for cargo.
