3 Ways In Which The Saab Key Fob Will Influence Your Life
How to Replace a Saab 93 Key Fob

All cars need to have a key fob that has a transmitter/remote that can lock and unlock your vehicle. The batteries contained in these devices have a life span that is a bit shorter, and they can get bad.

If you're thinking of purchasing a Saab 93 and don't have two keys, you could add one for about $400. This is done by purchasing a new TWICE module from the dealer and putting it in place using the hand-held computer that is called Tech2. Tech2.

Keys Replacement

Many pre-owned Saabs only come with one key. It is recommended to buy a spare as soon as you can since it's less expensive to do this than having to replace the entire car in case you lose your primary key. It is also essential to rotate your keys frequently so that they don't get all the wear and tear and to keep them clean.

If you lose your only key, you'll need to replace the CIM (Column Integration Module) or TWICE (Theft Warning Integrated Central Electronics) module and a new one and a specific program to convince the car that you're not attempting to steal it. These modules can cost upwards of $400 to replace and are only available through mail purchase. Most locksmiths and dealers are not able to replace the module in the same day.

The good news is that most modern Saab vehicles can have another key added to the system, without replacing the computer that was originally installed in the vehicle. The dealer will have to use a specific handheld computer known as Tech-2 Tech-2 to add the second key and program it into the vehicle. Some garages that are independent can do this, but the process is more complex and they must reprogramme the EEPROM on your car's computer to allow it to accept the new key.

Replacement key fobs

Saab owners who have lost their key last year or had it stolen should get the replacement as soon as possible. The steps required to obtain an additional working Saab 9-3 key fob will require the dealer's service department. This can cost hundreds of dollars, not including the cost of a new key, a new TWICE module (theft warning integrated central electronics) and reprogramming the system to convince the vehicle that the new key is not stolen.

If you have a spare key however, the process is much less expensive. The new key has to be aligned to the original TWICE Module. A second-hand one is not compatible. However, a genuine OEM replacement can be purchased from a dealer for only a fraction of the price it will cost.

It is easy to remove the case from a brand new SAAB Key Fob. Utilize a flathead to pry open the case and be sure to avoid damaging the electronics inside. After removing the electronics and battery then you can place a new case in the existing shell of the original fob. Align the two pieces and gently press them in to allow them to click in place. After everything is in place then you can resynchronize your new fob. It's worth noting that adding a new key is more complex than simply replacing the emergency key, and requires the dealer's assistance with a tool known as the Tech-2.

Keys to Replace Ignition

If your car's ignition key doesn't engage in the ignition, or it won't start when you press the starter button, you must first ensure the transmission is in Park. This will stop your car from accelerating when the lock for the transmission fails or your manual transmission slams out of gear.

In most cases the issue lies in the electronic components of the key fob that control the way the car recognizes the key after it has been put into the ignition cylinder. The metal key itself is relatively easy to duplicate however, the electronic component that is in the key fob what makes the car recognize the key.

The addition of a second key to a Saab car requires a specific transmitter along with a transponder with it and some type of special programming for the car to convince the computer it is not trying to steal the vehicle. This is not something a locksmith can do, it needs to be done by a dealer or through a handheld computer that is called Tech2. Tech2.

If you already have a working key fob, then adding a new one should not cost more than $200. The other expense is the actual fabrication of the metal key, in the event you require it. Most dealers can also do this, but it could take a few weeks to get the car and the part programmed.

Replacement Remotes
