Renault Trafic Key Fob Review

The Renault Trafic's strengths include an amazingly comfortable and car-like driving experience, and a high real-world fuel efficiency. This updated 2023 model also includes a wide array of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

The steering is well-weighted and responsiveness, and was easy to use while participating in the van's 'parking gymkhana' challenge (yours truly smoked it in the process, by the way). There's also a panic button, which, in theory could deter potential thieves.

Hidden Physical Keys

Modern car key fobs include a number useful features, like the ability of starting and stopping the engine remotely. These hidden features can be very useful when you're in a rush or you have to get out of the rain. However, certain of these hidden features can also be used by thieves to break into your vehicle.

The key fob emits radio frequency (RF) signals that are detected by a receiver within the vehicle. The receiver interprets the signals and determines if a button was press to unlock or start the engine, for example.

In a special mode of learning, a key fob will send the serial number and current synchronization counter when it is added to the system. The receiver stores this data in memory and exits learning mode. If the key fob is used in the future, it will then use the decryption key and counter for synchronization to authenticate its signal.

While this measure of security has proven successful in preventing most attacks, it isn't completely foolproof. This safety feature has been exploited by an advanced attack known as RollJam [17]. In order to be successful the attacker must have future codes to be sent via the key fob. Once these codes have been obtained, the attacker can perform an attack replay and gain access to an automobile.

Moving the car from the parking spot

A feature that is popular among people with Renault Trafic is the ability to unlock the hatchback and trunk by pressing a button on their key fob. This is a great feature when they have lots of groceries or party supplies on their hands and don't want to put everything down to open the car.

This is also a great method to stop thefts from occurring in the first place. A simple press of the panic key will deter anyone attempting to steal your vehicle or break into your home. It will also notify your neighbors. If you feel unsafe on the road pressing the panic button will alert drivers around you.

The key fob might be damaged by washing it or dropping it. Other reasons for the problem include a faulty key programmed and an immobilizer malfunction and interference by other wireless devices operating at the same frequency. If you've got a defective module, it's best to go to a certified Renault dealer or a mechanic to get assistance. It could be necessary to change the fuse or disconnect the battery for 15 minutes in order to reset the module.

Sunroof Opener

Renault key fobs for the traffic have a sunroof opener that operates the opening and closing of your vehicle's sunroof. This is essential to maintain an appropriate temperature while driving in the summer. This feature allows you to open the sunroof to vent the car. The sunroof can open and closed by using the console switch on the driver's side (left-hand drive) of the hatch area. The sunroof will be opened in a comfortable position which is about 75 percent open. This is the typical operating position for the majority of cars. Touch OPEN to open the sunroof fully, and CLOSE to close it.

If the sunroof isn't working properly, there may be a problem with the micro-switch in between the sunvisors. The sunroof motor can be operated manually for a short time to check the current of the motor with an ammeter. The motor's slip clutch torque will be increased by loosening the screws that adjust the motor and then decreased by tightening them. Once the slip clutch has been properly adjusted, apply a heavy strength Loctite to the lock nut for the adjusting screw.

The other problem that could prevent the sunroof from raising is a misaligned or bad Limit Switch 2. The lifting arms retract to the release position to be removed, but not to the locked-open position. On 1985.5 and later models, the ignition switch must be in the position of the ACCESSORY (2) to operate the sunroof. The sunroof console switch then moved back ("A" direction) to open and then pushed forward ("B" direction) to close.

Parking


The Renault Trafic is a stylish car with some modern features. Cameron who was driving the 2023 Renault Trafic in Sydney for the launch event, found it easy to operate. It had a responsive steering and was a bit heavy. It was also a breeze to park even in the tight parking 'gymkhana' where yours truly reverse out of an 'garage' with a witches' head's shape and into two other garages which is not so bad for a car which only has three stars in safety ratings from Euro NCAP.
