the phase of the moon when it is in conjunction with the sun and invisible from earth, or shortly thereafter when it appears as a slender crescent:
"owls hooted and the new moon rose"
2.WAXING CRESENT
The waxing crescent phase is the moon's first step toward fullness. And it's a very visible shift — the moon is completely invisible (while it's new) until a tiny sliver is illuminated. The moon is considered a crescent only when less than one half of it is visible.
3.FIRST QUARTER
The first quarter moon has several important spiritual meanings that you might be able to apply to your life. For instance, many people see the first quarter moon as a symbol of strength. The moon is moving towards its full brightness and is in the “yang” phase of its development.
4.WAXING GIBBOUS
There is no symbol for the Waxing Gibbous Moon in calendars as it is an intermediate Moon phase. Only the four primary phases are shown in calendars with the following symbols: The Moon illustration on our Moon phase pages changes as time passes and indicates more accurately, although not perfectly, which part of the Moon is illuminated.
5.FULL MOON
To the naked eye, the full moon lasts about three days, but in reality, it is a full moon for just an instant before it begins to wane. The moon takes just under one month -- an average of 29 1/2 days -- to complete its phases.
6.WANING GIBBOUS
The waning gibbous phase occurs between the full moon and third quarter phases. The last quarter moon (or a half moon) is when half of the lit portion of the Moon is visible after the waning gibbous phase. A waning crescent moon is when the Moon looks like a crescent and the crescent decreases ("wanes") in size from one day to the next.
7.THIRD QUARTER
The last quarter moon rises around midnight and sets around mid-morning. Also asked, what time of day is the third quarter moon highest? At full Moon, the moon rises at sunset and sets at sunrise. At 3rd quarter, the moon rises at midnight and sets at noon. One may also ask, what moon phase rises at midnight? The phases of the Moon
8.WANING CRESCENT
The phase begins about one week into the lunar cycle. The iconic first quarter moon is often bright enough to spot during the daylight hours. This moon phase is preceded by the evening crescent moon, and followed by the waxing gibbous moon phase. With this moon above we are now deeply rooted in plans and trends which began the week before.

1.PHOTOSPHERE
2.CHROMOSPHERE
3.CORONA
4.SUNSPOTS
1.PHOTOSPHERE
The surface of the Sun The photosphere is a star's outer shell from which light is radiated. The term itself is derived from Ancient Greek roots, φῶς, φωτός/ phos, photos meaning "light" and σφαῖρα/ sphaira meaning "sphere", in reference to it being a spherical surface that is perceived to emit light.
2.CHROMOSPHERE
A chromosphere ("sphere of color") is the second layer of a star's atmosphere, located above the photosphere and below the solar transition region and corona. The term usually refers to the Sun's chromosphere, but not exclusively.
3.CORONA
The Sun’s corona is the outermost part of the Sun’s atmosphere. The corona is usually hidden by the bright light of the Sun's surface. That makes it difficult to see without using special instruments. However, the corona can be viewed during a total solar eclipse.
4.SUNSPOTS
Sunspots are phenomena on the Sun's photosphere that appear as temporary spots that are darker than the surrounding areas. They are regions of reduced surface temperature caused by concentrations of magnetic flux that inhibit convection. Sunspots appear within active regions, usually in pairs of opposite magnetic polarity.[2] Their number varies according to the approximately 11-year solar cycle.
