Shockwaves in the Palms to Treat Dupuytren's Disease
Dupuytren’s disease (DD) is a progressive condition that results in palm contractures. It is a painful disorder that takes years to advance and often starts as nodules and bands in the fingers of the hand. Currently available treatments are often ineffective or have a high rate of recurrence, but recently there has been interest in using extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) to treat DD.

Shockwaves can be delivered to the palms using a specialized machine called an extracorporeal shockwave therapy device.
