The Poodle skirt was a popular 1950's trend that has evolved into an iconic costume and a souvenir of the past. The Poodle skirt was a solid color broad-swing dress with an embroidered or transfered cute design. The original design was usually a pink poodle on leash. Other appliques were also available like French phrases and music notes, flamingoes and records and even hot rods.


Teens and girls wore adorable poodle skirts to parties, school events as well as for casual wear. The poodle skirt was by far the most sought-after accessory for the 50's look, particularly when worn with white and black saddle shoe and cat eye glasses. the 50's sweater, and socks with bobby motifs.
