As the political season heats up, Iowa high school junior Mark Olson is getting a lot of attention for his presidential campaign. The young man, campaigning on the Libertarian party ticket, might not be old enough to participate but he's polling better than seasoned lawmakers and governors four times his own age. He's making use of his own meme to make it happen.
Olson, although a novice at campaigning and a novice campaigner, has been able receive some prestigious endorsements including hip-hop legend Warren G. However, the most impressive aspect of his campaign has been the many dollars he has collected for charity. As opposed to other presidential candidates, Olson does not attempt to squeeze every penny out of his supporters through ridiculous products such as spatulas or skins for Beats headphones. He instead uses his campaign to support some worthwhile causes, and of course spreading the word about Deez nuts.
The band was formed in Melbourne in 2007 after the dissolution of I Killed The Prom Queen The group that Peters was the drummer for. The group's music style is inspired by hardcore punk and hip-hop. The group's debut album, Stay True (2008) was followed by this One's For You (2009) and Bout It! (2013). In April 2017, the band will release their fifth album, Binge, and Purgatory.
Despite the success of his campaign, Olson says that the main reason behind his candidacy is to "give back to the community that has offered many things to me." He hopes to raise $50,000 for charity through his presidential bid and plans to do so through the sale of official Deez Nuts shirts. https://www.deeznutsmerch.com/ claims that all the profits will be donated to charities. Alongside the shirts, Olson has also started an YouTube channel that will feature videos of the band in live performances and other cool stuff.
