When you or a loved one experiences a tonic-clonic seizure, you should try to remain calm. Take care to stay in a safe place. Make sure your head is covered and avoid sharp objects.
Do not attempt to remove contact lenses, or put anything in your mouth. This can lead to injury.
If you or a loved one has a tonic clonic seizure, you should be prepared to provide first aid. You may need to help the person lie down in a comfortable position. Stay calm, keep the person from falling, and offer comfort.
