When the two-division champion enters his home gym on the wealthy west side of Guadalajara it is all about the work. On a black wall, behind Canelo's training area, is a slogan that reads "How do I feel here?" Eddy Reynoso, Canelo's trainer, is watching closely as he skips ropes and takes a deep breath. Reynoso warns Canelo about the dangers associated with horseplay so close to the fight.
Canelo spends the majority of his time in a gym named Arena Chololo larios, after one of Chepo’s first champions. caneloalvarezmerch , sparring partners, and ring all play an important role in Canelo's development as a fighter. Reynoso has been training Canelo for 13 years.
Canelo's professional debut in Mexico, in October 2005 was met with a standing ovation when he defeated a difficult opponent by way of a TKO in the ninth round. Canelo had some early success but his real breakthrough was on his second fight, the undercard to Floyd Mayweather vs. Michael Phelps PPV in Las Vegas. Canelo, a young boxer from Mexico, stunned the crowd in Las Vegas with his spirited performance. He was given the nickname "Canelo."
Canelo knew he couldn't pass up the chance to defend his WBC Middleweight Title against Dmitry Bivol. Canelo was three-fourths the way towards a four-belt unified world title. Only six men have achieved this feat.
The fight was not without its problems. Canelo surrendered his belt when the two were unable agree on a purse. The WBC then imposed a mandatory defense to Golovkin. Canelo says that this will remove the pressure from a deadline, and allow negotiations to continue with the hope of having a fight soon. But fans aren't holding their breath.
