Fall detection Devices for Alexa
A new feature of Amazon’s new service, Alexa Together, is that it will automatically alert emergency services when a user falls. This is great news for older adults whose medical alert systems do not include a fall detection feature.
fall alert system The service works with two different fall-detection devices: Vayyar Care is a wall-mounted sensor that can detect a fall, while SkyAngelCare by Assistive Technology Service is a pendant that can be worn around the neck.
When the user falls, Alexa will call Urgent Response and let the family know they’re in trouble. medical alert buttons Dementia GPS Tracker There is a catch: The Urgent Response personnel don’t have access to your loved one’s medical information, so they won’t call 911 on their own, but instead will connect with an Amazon helpline that can then contact police or other emergency responders.
Caregivers will be able to configure the system for their loved one through Remote Assist, which allows them to manage certain settings and set reminders, shopping lists, and other tasks that need to be done. They can also add another caregiver to the care circle if necessary, though this can be revoked at any time.
Getting started with Alexa Together
The first step is to sign up for the subscription service. You can do this through the Alexa app or directly on the get started page. The service costs $20 per month, which is a fraction of what you’d pay for other urgent-response medical-alert services.
