Amazon's new Alexa Together service offers hands-free access to trained helpers to make sure you're okay if you need it. The service also integrates with a few compatible devices to monitor activity, track falls and contact emergency services.
Fall Detection Devices for Alexa
If you have an Alexa device and a subscription to Alexa Together, you can use a range of connected fall detection devices from Vayyar Care. These include 4D imaging radar sensors that can instantly identify a fall and prompt Alexa to ask if you want to call Urgent Response or notify your caregiver.
You can also opt in to the "remote assist" feature, which lets you set up your loved one's Alexa routine from the comfort of a phone or laptop. You can adjust settings, manage contacts and add reminders or shopping lists.
There are several types of fall-detection devices, including AltumView and SkyAngelCare. Both systems connect to the Alexa Together monitoring center when they detect a fall.
Some of these systems even offer a region-of-interest feature that lets you know when your loved one is entering a dangerous area like the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom.
Another option is the TruSense Personal Emergency Pendant, which uses GPS to determine your location and automatically alerts caregivers if you fall or need assistance. If you have an older family member, it can be difficult to keep tabs on their daily activities.
