Mombasa residents bitter over ferry tragedy
A dark cloud is looming over Mashujaa Day festivities on October 20 due to lingering anger among Mombasa residents over the Likoni ferry disaster in which Mariam Kighenda and her four-year-old daughter Amanda died after their car slipped off a ferry as they were being transferred from one side of the channel to another. The celebrations are expected to be held at the revamped Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, a few meters from where the incident took place.
