Badai matahari adalah aktivitas tertentu dari matahari yang melepas partikel bernergi tinggi. Jika badai matahari terjadi maka bumi akan terimbas efek negatif dikarenakan material yang keluar ini adalah plasma yang Terdiri dari elektron dan proton, ditambah medan magnet dari dalam korona. Badai matahari muncul ketika terjadi ledakan cahaya atau flare. Fenomena ini mengganggu komunikasi radio dan membuat jarum kompas berputar liar di bumi
Pada saat aktivitas tinggi, gaya magnet yang di hasilkan matahari bisa terpelintir atau berpusar hingga menembus permukaan matahari sehingga membentuk kaki-kaki atau sering disebut sebagai bintik hitam atau juga sunspot. Bintik hitam ini butuh waktu 11thn untuk mencapai jumlah tertinggi, lalu menurun lagi Periode ini biasa disebut siklus bintik matahari. Sunspot memiliki 2 bagian yaitu Umbra dan Penumbra. Penumbra lebih cerah dibanding Umbra.
Dan menurut saya jika Badai Matahari benar-benar terjadi, saya rasa kehidupan di bumi akan sangat amat terganggu. Mungkin saja akan mempengaruhi alam, atau paling parah memusnahkan kehidupan di bumi.
