Falls are a leading cause of injury for older adults and a common concern for loved ones.
Fall Monitor helps people live independently by detecting when they have fallen and alerting loved ones to the situation.
The technology uses a sensor embedded in a pendant, watch, belt, or clip-on device to track a person’s movement and send a signal to the manufacturer’s monitoring center. The device’s software then analyzes the data to determine if the person has fallen.
A representative from the company’s monitoring center then contacts the person through a speaker in the pendant or watch to confirm that they have fallen and provide emergency help if necessary. If the person does not respond to the agent’s call, a message is sent automatically to their emergency contact listed in the system.

Another type of fall detection technology uses ambient sensors to watch a person’s home and detect when they have fallen. If the person has fallen, the monitoring service can notify their emergency contact and a video of the incident can be transmitted.
A good fall detection system should be easy to use and should not require complicated setup. Also, it should be able to cancel false alarms by pressing a button or speaking to a representative.
