Overwatch has some great merchandise for fans. Although it's not quite as large as Counter-Strike's the first-person shooting game that has inspired Overwatch There are several amazing products. An engraved set of phone covers that feature the characters of the players and the Overwatch Logo is a great product. These are available for iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones.


It's hard to resist purchasing items featuring your favourite characters if you're avid gamers. A new collection of t-shirts and collectibles was launched to commemorate Overwatch's second anniversary. The shirts feature characters from the game such as Kiriko, the battle-healer with her trademark fox ears. The items include the Junker Queen Matted Print and a 25-inch Reinhardt Premium Statue.



As Overwatch League continues to grow Franchise owners are looking at ways to increase their revenue. Although many teams in esports have merchandise sold at games and on their websites, very few are as complete as OWL's products. The league has a partnership with Fanatics to offer equipment and jerseys for each team. Overwatchmerch plans to offer in-game items that are unique to the players of each team. Riot Games, for example offers costumes of world champions at the other esports events it hosts.


These game-specific uniforms will be on sale for the whole year. The uniforms will need to be earned by players through gameplay. The profits from uniform sales will be divided evenly among franchise owners. It is still to be determined whether this model will be adopted by other leagues but it's clear that the OWL has recognized the potential of merchandise as an extra revenue stream.


Some Overwatch players might be wary to purchase items in the game due to the controversy over the loot box. A recent post by hi_im_red_beard on Overwatch Subreddit shed some insight into how much cheaper virtual items are to real-world counterparts. He posted a picture comparing the cost of a Pchimari charm from the Overwatch store to its cost in actual reality. The real-world cost is less than half.


The OWL is able to grow into a genuine rival to other esports. However, the substantial crowd that gathered online for the playoffs this season proves that it is not without an public. The merchandising strategy may be among the primary factors that propels the Overwatch League into the mainstream.


Until the OWL is truly a global competition, it's likely that fans will continue purchase items to support their teams of choice. The merchandise doesn't serve as the same as a live event, but it will provide an enjoyable alternative.
