The Friends Shirt is a Rebound
Netflix has been able to help viewers who didn't catch the initial broadcast in 1994 catch up with this show. While the characters in the show are the focus the logo of the show is becoming more popular.






It's difficult to walk into any shopping center without noticing a Friends shirt or the mug. And while that may have something to do with the show's resurgence however, it also has everything to have to do with the fact that the Friends font is so popular. Gabriel Weiss, the designer who created the script that makes up the show's trademark design, turned it into a font you can download for free and use as you'd like. Etsy sellers can design many Friends-themed items. You can purchase Thongs with the words "Bride" or a sweatshirt sporting "Senior" as the Friends font. Also, bridal party gifts are readily available, including T-shirts that read "Bride Crew", in the same handwritten font, separated by dots. The tops were worn by Rachel and her wedding party on The One Where Rachel gets Married.





Friends Shirt of this has contributed to create an entirely illegal -- and lucrative black market for Friends merch. Tochilovsky says that since the copyright of the font isn't protected that it is difficult to Warner Brothers take legal action against smaller-time sellers. It is unclear if Warner Brothers will take action against sellers who use Weiss fonts for more serious products. But, he believes they wouldn't have the funds to do so.
