Sound the alarm that is a bit loud, because it's Minecraft's 11th birthday! To celebrate, we thought about eating lots of cake in the shape of blocks similar to last year's.
We thought, why not unveil the new name, a brand new logo, and the secret sauce that lets the entire machine work? You can also eat a lot of cake! Much better! Let's go for it.
But why would we need to change our name and logo? Why is that? Humans like to reinvent themselves from time to time, so it's only right to give the same respect to the company that's been around for more than 10 years. Would you still wear the same outfit that defined your style in 2009 I'm asking you?
A lot has happened since then! We are now a multi-title, multi-location company that began in Stockholm. Following Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons We're making plans for a feature film, and preparing an epic live show, and playing with ideas for brand new games.
Mojang also has a number of studios around the globe. This, in an act of genius has inspired our brand new name... CITIZENS *drumroll and birthday alarm blast Mojang Studios.
