As we've mentioned, Minecraft with RTX's worlds are almost entirely traced on a path, with lighting and effects that offer extraordinary levels of detail to ensure the highest image quality possible. Here's a list of the main effects in case you're interested or would like to know more about the technology behind Minecraft and RTX.
Global Illumination
Games are traditionally illuminated by precomputed lightmapsthat are precomputed, Image-Based Light Probes, Spherical Harmonics, and Reflective Shadow Maps as well as artist-placed lights to help force illumination in areas where the previous methods do not work. Although the results look amazing however, the methods used are not without flaws, with one of the biggest being that dynamic lighting does not reflect or shine beyond the region that the light is hitting.

Imagine a dark room , with bright sunlight shining through windows. With traditional techniques, everything that is directly struck by light is lit, but the illuminated areas themselves do not reflect light, and do not reflect light onto the game elements around them, when in reality they would.
With path tracer, we can precisely model the dynamic indirect diffuse lighting that is reflected by indirect bounces off of surfaces in the scene, and then have it interact and play with other effects ray-traced. Imagine sunlight shining onto a castle through multicolored stained glass window blocks. It will reflect off the marble floor and illuminate the surrounding details. This could cause new shadows that harden contact from objects.
