Marriage or sacrament of matrimony is more than the union of two spouses. It is a cultural, universal from which the family, the most basic unit of society is founded upon but marriage itself is not always a happy endeavor. sometimes the relationship between spouses collapse, the reasons may vary but the end result is clear. And what recourse is taken when a marriage can longer be saved or deemed to be just painful and draining yourself of your character? Many countries turn to divorce a dissolution of marriage unlike annulment which declares that a marriage never existed a divorce is terminates the union along with it's duty. The philippines does not allow divorce partly because there is no law allowing it and partly because of our Catholic upbringing holds marriage inviolable no matter the circumstances.

We've heard so many instances whereas marriages fall apart and collapse to the point that it has gained telenovela level entertainment value but breaking off a non-functioning marriage is a critical struggle which is why the idea of divorce is floating around. But do we actually need divorce or are we prepared to legalize divorce in the Philippines.
To start of, divorce is a critical decision amongst the spouses which may lead to various circumstances such as abuse, poverty, depression , and poor health. children from a step-family experience educational failure, teenage pregnancy, and criminal activity or broadly widespread divorce poisons the larger culture of marriage. It embeds distrust, insecurity, and low commitment mentality but of course numerous occasions of divorce differ from other spouses. But the thing is, 50% of the marriage vows are negative like "In sickness, For poor, For worse" no one in this world has solely vowed for the positive outcomes of being in a marriage and even yet we still forget to remember the vows of "Till death do us part" but what's the point if all I feel is pain, misery, and self hatred is questions that may arise from several circumstances. But it all boils down to the question should you "love who you marry or marry who you love". Answers may come in different shades of our reality we live in but the point is every little thing or large things have their justice and injustices in their existence. Nothing is perfect, not people, not animals, nothing and yet we still fret about those things and somehow we forget that we have alternatives which are separation, mediation, annulment, and lastly conclusion. But of course there are factors that are prohibiting us from doing so, but nonetheless being in non-functioning marriage is just another way to die slowly deep inside but remember not all problems are like this so I just want to suggest another alternative, which is treating every case with an open box and not a box filled with things of the past.
