Notes - notes.io

The speaking task will test the student’s speaking ability in the four areas of the required criteria. (Fluency and coherence, Lexical Resource, Grammatical range, and accuracy Pronunciation). I found that during these segments, it is important that the Teacher expresses the importance of their ability to speak English and not their memorization in certain responses. For this lesson segment, I believe for the student's mentality to be as calm and stable as possible when performing this practice exam. Thus, during the Pre- section I as the teacher will explain as well as I can the whole run down of the speaking exam of the IELTS. I will also provide a YouTube shorts video of an example on how the exam is done to help any student with doubts or worries. I had a few ideas on how to better prepare my students before taking their practice interviews, however decided to use a worksheet found from one of the provided websites ( IELTS Speaking Topics PDF (magoosh.com) ) The students will get a chance to read through the topics of todays practice interview, giving them a confidence boost and some reassurance to better their mindsets before taking it.
Since the actual exam will have a one-on-one interview, I set the class during the while- segment to be in an individual setting. (Seating each student as far away from each other as possible.) I did this to give each student the space they need to gather their barring before the practice interview takes place. When taking the practice interview, I decided to record each student's individual interview so that i can review them again later (if necessary) and give each student a copy of their performance so they can see if they feel they have made any mistakes.
For the Post- A summary of their areas of needed improvements will be provided to the students, either after everyone has done their exam or ASAP. (when the teacher has reviewed and marked all works.) Lastly, the students will be put in a group to discuss their individual assessments, I believe with this, we can bring the class together as a group as well as to show that everyone makes mistakes and its part of the learning process. I decided that another worksheet, Worksheet 6, will be handed out to students to take home to go through. I hope that this will help with responses to any questions that may be asked during an actual examination.
