Seven amazing Minecraft creations by Joe Miller Technology reporter
Many of us were first introduced to Minecraft when Microsoft announced it was paying $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) for the company that developed the top-selling video game.
For a number of years, an entire community of gamers has been working in the Minecraft universe, painstakingly creating intricate cyberspace marvels.
Here are seven of the top:
Game of Thrones
Mapmakers WesterosCraft is with a goal: to recreate the world George RR Martin created in the Game of Thrones books. The aim is to provide a stage for roleplaying within the fantasy world.
A working 16-bit computer
A Minecraft gamer who goes by the username ohmganesha created a fully functional 16-bit computer in only two weeks. The virtual machine has 32 bytes of RAM (random-access memory), and 256 bytes ROM (read only memory).
This Cathedral
Patrix, the architect of the cathedral said that it took him only two nights to construct. He claimed that he'd never visited a cathedral in person.
A hard drive that is functional
Cody Littley's hard drive can hold a single kilobyte of data, which may be unappealing when compared to ordinary discs until you consider that Mr. Littley is PhD student in computer science in Texas constructed it piece-by-piece.
An entire city
The artists behind the Aurora City Project admit it could never be completed and the details of their cityscapes provide an indication as to why. Here are several images.
All of Denmark
The Danish government's effort to have the entire country mapped using Minecraft was a way to educate children. https://pnp89.com/ However, the project was subsequently vandalized, with parts of the map blown up by using virtual "dynamite".
A playable guitar
Disco, the creator of Minecraft's cyber guitar can play 10 open chords of basic quality. You can watch a demo here.
