Students at the University of Pennsylvania are recreating their campus with "Minecraft" after COVID-19 ended their semester early. Events like graduations and weddings are being moved online to "Minecraft," "Animal Crossing," and other online games since the coronavirus swept throughout the world.

Although the University of Pennsylvania's academic year is over, some students aren't quite ready for departure.
A group of UPenn students created an Minecraft server and coordinated recreating the campus over the course of March. They've been in touch with Brown University and Columbia University students who are working on similar projects, and have discussed the possibility of creating Hunger Games-like challenges among schools.
Microsoft bought the block-building game "Minecraft" in 2014 for $2.5billion. It has been one the most played games in the world over the past decade. It had 112 million active players per month in September. The number has risen to 145 million.
Students from universities and colleges across the US have been removed from their schools and moved to remote learning for the remainder of the semester. Some schools made the change after a student was diagnosed with COVID-19, which is a coronavirus infection. Some schools did it prior to the student arrived. Colleges also recognized the danger of returning students from spring break after having traveled across the globe.
Although they are unable to be present on campus, Penn students recreated the campus in meticulous detail. This work is in progress. Minecraft servers Check out their incredible work on this page.
