Minecraft the End: how to find an end Portal

Trying to find an End Portal in Minecraft? There is only one way to get to The End. That's the End Portal. Taking the leap into another dimension requires commitment, because once you dip a toe into the End Portal, there's no stopping.



We're sure that you have your reasons to visit the End. Perhaps you're looking to overcome the Ender Dragon or acquire precious resources , like End Stone or Chorus. Or maybe you just take in the endless, dark view of the End. To reach the End, you will need to hop into an End Portal.



End Portals can only be found in the portal rooms of strongholds. You'll require the Eye of Enders to guide you to the location of the stronghold. Then, you'll need to dig deep underground to find it. Once you've found it the eye will be suspended above a lava lake. There is generally at least one Eye of Ender in every End Portal. You have a 10% chance of it generating with an existing one.



Stepping into the activated End Portal will immediately transport you to the End, without any way to stop it. Once you've reached the End you'll be spawned in the middle of an island with smaller islands visible around to explore. This will open the possibility of completing the game' and then return to the normal Minecraft overworld as we know it - or further explore the outer islands.



How do I create an End portal in Minecraft



Although in survival mode, you'll have to locate a stronghold in order to activate an End Portal - in creative you can make your own. Here's the End Portal recipe:



12 x Eyes of Ender 12 x Portal Frame Blocks



Mark out a 3x3 section on the ground, then when you're standing within that area, you need to line your Portal Frame Blocks around the perimeter of the 3x3 square.



You can open the End Portal by placing all 12 Eyes of Ender in the appropriate blocks, regardless of whether you have built it yourself or found one in a Stronghold. Make sure that you place all of the Eyes of Ender vertically as the portal won't be able to open if you place even one Eye of Ender horizontally. You'll know that it's working by the fact that you don't see the lava (if you're looking at the stronghold version) or the ground (your personal version).
