Japanese Accessories
An array of different accessories are accessible to Japanese males and females including simple items such as belts for obi to more sophisticated ones like kimono umbrellas. These clothes form an integral element of traditional Japanese clothes and communicate the values of aesthetics in Japan.


Obi (belt)



The obi is also called an obiwa, or a the oban. It is a wrap for the waist that is worn in Japan with various traditional clothes like the Kimono. It's a symbol of respect and status. It also reflects the aesthetic abilities of the wearer.


Haori


Haoris are an overcoat type which was typically worn by males, but is now more commonly used by females. Historically, they were worn by soldiers during battle to protect them from the cold; however, in modern Japan they are typically worn as an outer clothing item to wear with a kimono or a yukata.


Haori come in many styles, and may have embossed patterns or a plain, unembroidered design. Haori can be shorter or longer, thigh or knee length and are made from linen, silk, cotton or synthetic materials such as rayon.


Tabi (split-toe socks)


Split-toed socks are an essential part of traditional footwear in Japan and are often worn with Zori or geta sandals. They are made from cotton or silk, and come in various colours. White is most well-known.


Kinchaku


A drawstring bag or pouch typically made of cloth that has a cinch at each end is an essential piece of clothing for Japanese people. They've been around for centuries, and they are still in fashion today. They are often adorned with beautiful Japanese designs, and are utilized for a variety of functions, like carrying candy, or even small accessories.


Yukata


Yukata is a light fashion kimono for both men and women. It's a staple in traditional Japanese fashion. They are typically worn during summer, as well as in other casual occasions. They are usually made of cotton and are a very popular accessory for traveling, particularly to Japanese celebrations or fireworks displays.


Michiyuki


An Japanese overcoat is a popular item of traditional clothing, that is worn by women and occasionally by geisha. The square neckline is created by the overhang between the panels of the overcoat. They are usually fastened by snaps or buttons at the front.

A round, hollow Shinto bell. They look somewhat like a jingle bell in design, yet they make a rougher sound when struck. They can be found in various sizes starting from tiny good luck charms to large ones on shrine entrances.


Furoshiki


A kind of fabric that is used for wrapping objects, such gifts or clothing, is called furoshiki. They come in a variety of sizes and patterns, and they have been embraced by Westerners for gift wrapping as well.
