Avanos Medical and FDA issued a Class 1 recall of 629 CORTRAK*2 the enteral access system. Avanos Medical feeding tube It is a tube for feeding device that has been linked to numerous incidents of injury and death.
The devices were affected between April 1st, 2016 and January 1, 2022. The devices are used by healthcare professionals to insert feeding tubes into stomachs of patients or their intestines.
Incorrect placement of nasogastric and Nasoenteric tube is the source of 23 deaths and 60 injuries since the year 2015.

According to FDA adverse events, they include respiratory failure, pneumothorax (collapsed lung tissue) and perforation, a hole in the bowel or wall of the lungand pneumonia (a lung infection) and the pleural effusion (excess liquid that has accumulated in the space between your lungs and the chest cavity).
