Avanos Medical Recalls Cortrak*2 Enteral Access Systems
According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Avanos Medical recalls the Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System due to the misplacement of nasogastric or nasoente tubes has caused injuries and patient deaths. The recall covers 629 devices, which were distributed in the United States.

Avanos selling the Cortrak*2 Endural Access System has been primarily for its screen-based visualizations of patients' stomachs and small bowels to assist in the placement medical feed tubes. Avanos Medical described a plan for patients to receive a new labeling to confirm proper use of the nasogastric tube and nasoenteric tubes prior to use.

Avanos is the second alert issued by the FDA has issued regarding feeding tubes that are intra-oral.
