Incorrect placement of nasogastric and Nasoenteric tube is the source of 23 deaths and 60 injuries in the past year.
The recall is used to alter the device's label to instruct users to ensure that the tube is properly set up prior to feeding.
Avanos Medical feeding tube According to FDA the adverse events include respiratory failure as well as pneumothorax (collapsed lung tissue) and perforation, a hole in the wall or bowel of the lungas well as pneumonia (a lung infection), and the pleural effusion (excess liquid that has accumulated in the lung space and your chest cavity).
