Avanos Medical has recalled the Cortrak*2 Ental Access System in response to the risk of injuries and deaths resulting from the misplacement of the nasoenteric as well as na tube. The recall currently includes 629 devices distributed throughout the United States.
Avanos has launched its Cortrak*2 Enteral Access System due to its on-screen visualization of a patient's stomach , or small bowel, which can aid in the correct placement of a medical feeding tube. Two instances were reported of strangulation in children who were fed through a tube that was wrapped around their necks.
