Minecraft's Latest Snapshot Adds Chat Reports to Ensure a Non-abuse-free Building

The Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is out. It's on the way to 1.19.1 with some bugs fixed, two brand new features, and some bugs that have been fixed. The most important one is chat reporting which lets you report players who are sending "abusive messages" in chat game. It's important to note that the blog states that "any reports made during the testing period might not be acted upon," but the ability to eliminate players who are abusive is a crucial part of any online game and this is an important step.



Chat reporting is accessible in the social interactions screen. You'll have to report specific chat messages and select the appropriate category. This will help prevent misuse of the system. You can't create a generic report about a user. You must specify the specific actions they took. The blog says that your report will be reviewed by a moderator team. It's difficult to determine what constitutes a genuine and actionable report at this point but it's worth knowing about it.



Another significant change is that you can now duplicate the awesome Minecraft allay. This can be done by giving them an amethyst shard, but duplicates come with a 2.5-minute cooldown. This will help ease the stress about the amount of allay mobs there are. Plus, an adorable thing can only be good news, right?
