Microsoft announced that it has sold 176 million copies of Minecraft which is quite a hop over the 156 million figure it announced just seven months ago. Despite the hype surrounding Fortnite, Microsoft has kept Minecraft up-to-date with features like the Dungeons Online Co-op, a free browser edition, and a movie. There is now an augmented reality version of the game called Minecraft Earth. Microsoft announced that it has reached 200 million registered users on the Microsoft China edition and has completed 130 million Minecraft "Hour of Code" sessions.
These figures could really rise when it starts ramping up the beta program for Earth. The game's design looks promising, and will offer more immersive gameplay than the current mobile AR champ, Pokemon Go, which was a runaway success when it was launched in 2016. OCCITIES.ORG Microsoft plans to release Minecraft Earth around the world slowly, beginning with an open beta in the summer.
