Did you catch the American Idol finals last year between Taylor Hicks and Catherine What's Her Name? The one with the best voice?

I'm gon na inform you a trick, something nobody ever informs entrepreneurs. It's not about being the best! It never ever was. So lots of business owners lose their time and cash bragging about being the finest. "We offer the very best doohickeys ..." "We offer the very best client service ..." '

It's dopey to extol being the best! Why? 'Cause
1. Everybody says it.
2. It's probably not true.
3. We don't believe you anyhow
But don't worry about it, 'cause
4. We're not constantly looking for the very best.

Take a look at singers. The most popular. The most enjoyed. Are they the very best? Rod Stewart's what, 92? And still churning out hit albums! "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" No Rod. I do not. 누누티비 Not 30 years earlier when the tune came out and definitely not now. In some way a geriatric Rod got to wiggle his properties on American Idol along with Taylor Hicks! On the other hand bad Catherine is doing a lame cameos on Ugly Betty.

The "It" Factor
In showbiz, there's an expression "You've got 'it'." What's "it"?

The reason they call it "it" is due to the fact that it's difficult to put it into words. It's got something to do with charm, magnetism, the power to hold an audience and draw in. Honestly, Rod Stewart never ever did it for me, however Elvis absolutely had "it".

Access Your Inner Elvis
I just saw a film about Elvis' life. Why are individuals so captivated by Elvis? Because a character that huge never dies.

Why was the person such a star? Was it his appearance, his character, his voice, his music? It's probably all of those things-- together with this magical thing called "it", but even with Elvis, it took him a while to find his inner "it".

In the movie, a docu-drama (or shlock-u-drama), Elvis strolls into Sun Records, a small Memphis recording studio, to sing for Sam Phillips. Elvis sings like Bill Monroe; he sings like Bing Crosby; he sings like the other day's news.

It wasn't a quickie, even for Elvis, to find his initial voice. He kept at it and Phillips kept pressing him. Eventually he did discover it. And the rest is history!

What's this got to do with business owners? Everything!

You got ta find your initial voice. You got ta dig beyond the normal. You got ta find your organization' character and then you need to reveal it. You got ta access your Inner Elvis!

Do that and view your star shine.
