First of all, you do have to create an inviting atmosphere in your home. You can offer beverages like fruity wines, beer, cocktails, and fruit punch.

Food should also be simple. Once the food is simple, you have time and energy to mingle around and speak to your guests and friends. The last thing that folks visiting your home would want is for the host to be doing the disappearing act on them because you have to check on elaborate food. Have about five assortments of finger foods; and when you have a dinner party, offer one appetizer, dinner with salad, beverages, and dessert.

Entertaining at home could be fun and enjoyable in that you could have themes for your parties, like having a barbeque, a games night or a movie marathon. For those who have guests and friends who have no idea each other, introduce them to one another, too.
