Hi I'm Madison My speech is about New Zealand's native bird The Kiwi,
The Kiwi is a unique bird the kiwi has a long beak, Its a small bird, it usually lives in the Native Forests in New Zealand, It lives for about 25 -50 years!!!! The amount of kiwi's are shorting since lately people are killing them for reasonably money as they are endangered, people come usually around the world to see the Kiwi, The female's eggs ( hatching eggs ) are quite to big for her! they take up 15%, of her weight the younglings hatch and emerge from the nest to learn, how to find food and forage Instead of a bird the younglings, how to provide its self the male and female ( father and mother ) do not care for it mostly, they don't feed it for a good reason so they can learn themselves, people say there are less then 70,000 kiwi's, in the world not that much some don't have nests some dig, dens or borrows so they are safer we lose about, 2% of our kiwi every year this equates to 27, per week the females are bigger then the males (3.3 kg, and 45cm) they have a loud echo to call for there partner ( mate ), The animals that mostly kill the kiwi are : Dogs, Cats, Stoats, Possums, Pigs, Hedgehogs, Weasels, Rodents And Ferrets. Some Kiwi's are lucky to get to the Egg stage! each year 1,400 die usually there call sounds like a high, pitch squeal of the Ambulance instead higher, pitched they don't eat meat they eat
