The Life of Pablo Pop Up Clothing Stores
If you're not a fan of Kanye West, it's not hard to deny that he's a incredible marketer. In the last weekend the fashion-forward rapper rolled out 21 pop-up clothing shops across the world, from Singapore to South Africa to Frisco, Texas. Life of Pablo Hoodies offered a range of products, including hoodies, jackets, socks and hats. Each item was designed to complement the album cover art or tracklist.


However, the most sought-after item were the T-shirts that include lyrics and the words from the album in a huge gothic font. A few fans have spent up to $400 for one of these limited-edition pieces. The store located at the Stonebriar Centre in Dallas, that opened on Saturday and will run through Sunday, offers the gothic-inspired t-shirts that are classic and some new additions which were exclusive to this shopping event.


The shop appears like an unintentional merchandise stand, complete with tables, and racks to store caps. The projector shows videos of OJ Simpson's white Bronco race as well as snarling dogs. The merchandise is mostly brand new, but there are a few duplicates of West's Yeezy Season 3 show at Madison Square Garden last month. Reissues include "I Feel Like Pablo" and "I Feel Like Pablo," which is available in different colors.


The t-shirts screen printed and made of Gildan ultra-cotton. They cost about $2 per shirt. Fans who waited in the queue of a block to purchase The Life of Pablo merch at the SoHo store had hoped for something different, but what the $72 tees are really offering is an expensive graphic print on a shirt that could get anywhere else at a lower cost.


Fans waited for hours in the hot and rain to get the limited-edition merchandise including jackets, hoodies and t-shirts from The Life of Pablo. Many were college students who were looking forward to starting the new semester with new clothes. Certain students, like Michael White and Jeremiah Henry were treating themselves to new outfits after working hard all summer.


Fans who were unable to visit SoHo or were not willing to pay $200 for a Tshirt, were able purchase certain items online. The Pablo Supply website opened over the course of the night, and it has the option of allowing customers and their families to gain the first access. But fans who worked out the code on social media could place orders on the clothes.



The pop-up will not influence sales for the album, but early indications are promising. The album sold more than a million copies its first week, and is currently topping Billboard 200. The most popular track from the album, "I feel like Pablo" was on the top of Billboard's 200 chart for the past three weeks. It also became extremely popular on streaming services.
