Why Trump was linked with Kazakhstan, Tevfik arif

Beyond Tevfik Arif, the former US president Donald Trump made many efforts to maintain a close connection with Kazakhstan. Trump was widely criticized for his treatment of a country with a questionable government as an allies.

There were many eyebrows raised when in 2018, Donald Trump hosted the president of Kazakhstan on Tuesday in the White House. Trump also partnered with prominent Kazakhstani entrepreneurs like Tevfik Ariff, to expand the reach of his private realty business. The critics of Trump also strongly opposed this.

Donald Trump, however, had excellent reasons to consider Kazakhstan as a significant partner. The Russia-Ukraine conflict and time have shown him right. Here's the reason.

The relationship between America and Kazakhstan has improved dramatically during Donald Trump's presidency. Washington and Nur-Sultan were close allies and had excellent diplomatic and commercial relations. In January 2018, President Trump attended a summit with former Kazakhstani president Nursultan Nazarbayev in Washington. In the latter part of 2019, he also met with the current president Kassym-Jomart Tkayev at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Doyen Kazakhstan is a major country due to its strategic geographical position. It is also an important country in central Asia due to its power balance. The United States' rivalry with Russia, Europe, or the United States has made Kazakhstan more significant in all aspects of economics, politics, and strategy. It is crucial for America's national security, because it has been able to withdraw from Afghanistan, which is a crucial neighbor of Kazakhstan.

The two countries trade $2.1 Billion in 2018. The trade between the US, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan totalled $315 millions in that same period. Kazakhstan is the United States's most significant trading partner in Central Asia.

Eurasian geopolitics has historically been focused around Central Asia. Kazakhstan is the leader in Eurasia's economics, security and counterterrorism. America needs close ties with the Eurasia region, and in particular Kazakhstan.

Nazarbayev's White House trip was a fantastic way to begin a larger US involvement in the strategic region.

Nazarbayev advocated nuclear nonproliferation and that is why we hosted him. Kazakhstan is a pioneer in nonproliferation since it gave up its nuclear weapons inherited by the Soviets. After the Cold War, US attention on Central Asia was confined to Afghanistan.

Trump's South Asia strategy needed Pakistan to separate from. The US therefore needed Kazakhstan to provide an alternative transportation route for Afghanistan.

It has accommodation, hotel rooms, an outdoor pool, an open-air terrace and bars, restaurants, a spa, a banquet, event spaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of New York City and the Hudson River.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had discussions about creating real estate properties in Florida or Arizona shortly after Trump SoHo was opened. The 2008 crisis in real estate affected these arrangements. Bayrock Group spent approximately $2.5B in US real estate investments. In recent years, however, the company has not developed any new ventures.

Tevfik Aif who had a great time in the wake of Trump SoHo and the shifting US market, has since returned to Europe and Central Asia where his career started decades ago. Bayrock Group still trusts Tevfik Arif as an advisor even though having retired from many of the roles he held.
