The Reasons To Work On This Best Over Ear Wireless Headphones
Best Over-Ear Wireless Headphones

If you're looking for a set of wireless over-ear headphones, consider these. These headphones aren't just comfortable, but they also have active noise cancellation, which reduces background sounds so you can focus on the music.

Focal's first wireless headphones are the ultimate dream of audiophiles. They have a rich sound with enough thump for EDM but instruments and vocals aren't excluded. They have a companion application and ANC presets that allow you to tailor the sound to suit your preferences.

Sony WH-1000XM5

Sony's WH1000XM5 is the most recent generation of its popular headphones that offer adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) to block out the background sounds. With a remarkable 27-hour playback time they are ideal for commutes and long journeys. The WH-1000XM5 also has a handy feature that allows you to pair it with up to two Bluetooth devices at the same time making it easy to switch from music and calls. The WH-1000XM5's sleek and minimalist design and eco-friendly packaging (using recycled plastic that was specifically designed for Sony) make them a desirable option for anyone who is concerned about sustainability.

The XM5s have a softer and more comfortable headband that is a perfect fit over your ear and puts less pressure on your skull. They are also more stylish and have a sleek design that blends in with all outfits. They're also available in a matte black that looks even better than the glossy black of previous generations.

One of the most appealing features of the WH1000XM5 is the smart noise cancellation function, which detects when you take off the headphones and then pauses the audio. When you put your headphones back on the audio is automatically resumed. This is a fantastic way to conserve battery, and it works well.

For audio quality, the XM5s do a great job with both LDAC codec support and DSEE Extreme audio upscaling. Tim Commerford's work on bass is evident in Rage against the Machine’s Bullet in the Head which is a dark track. Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy has a subtle, but deliberate vocal fade.

A word of caution for gym rats and those who live in rainy climes: the WH-1000XM5s don't have an IP rating, which means they shouldn't be used in moisture. There's even a disclaimer within the manual that advises you to don't sweat into the headset, or use it in the rain.

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

The PX7 S2 is a refreshing upgrade to B&W's flagship wireless headphone model, the PX7. The Series 2 is not just an incremental update, but a significant improvement in audio quality and ANC. The design is also a bit more refined. It's a more mature look than the glossy, techy appearance of Sony's XM5 or Apple's AirPods Max.

The headphones can be turned on and off with an adjustable slider switch. There are buttons on the side for volume, play/pause and to navigate through your music library. The left earcup has a customizable button that can be remapped for your voice assistant. There's also an ambient pass-through mode, which lets you hear what's happening around you.

The S2s can reproduce the 16-bit/44.1kHz Master of Dennis Wilson's River Song, from his Pacific Ocean Blue Album, with its multi-layered harmonies, atmospheric textures, and a detailed soundstage. The vocals are focused and there's a good low-end extension.

The S2s are not the most effective in EQ control. You can increase or reduce bass and treble up to 6dB, but there are no presets that can help you find your ideal balance. The majority of listeners won't feel bothered by this, but those who like to customize their audio will need to look elsewhere.

Overall, the PX7 S2s make an excellent option for those looking for a noise-canceling headphone that has an elegant design and feel. Although they aren't as versatile as the XM5s mentioned above however, they're still an excellent option for most listeners. You'll just have to decide whether their superior ANC and audio quality is enough to justify the slightly higher cost.

Bose QuietComfort 45/QC45 Wireless

The Bose QuietComfort 45 is a pair of wireless over-ear headphones that provide excellent noise cancellation. They also have an extended battery life of 24 hours. They're also light and comfortable enough to wear around the house. They can be controlled using the built-in buttons and an accompanying app, however the customization options are limited (sorry, no equalizer). You can pick from various sound profiles depending on the situation, such as when you're travelling or working at home. The QC45s come with an Aware Mode which permits outside sounds to be heard when using ANC. This is useful for people who want to hear traffic and children while out and about.

The audio quality of these headphones isn't as great as that of the WH-1000XM5s, but it's still decent. The bass isn't as intense but it does provide an adequate amount of volume and depth. The highs and mids are well-rounded and there's not a hint of shrillness or harshness.

The QC45s are known to favor higher frequencies. This can cause a slight sibilance during listening to certain music. It's not a huge issue and is easily fixed in software by tweaking the headphone's settings.

The controls are simple and easy to use. The button on the left earcup powers on and off the headphones, controls music playback and manages Bluetooth pairing. A multi-function Action Button is also available. It functions as a power switch and voice assistant, in addition to controlling volume. There's also a mic for phone calls as well as Siri or Alexa support.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x

The ATH M20x are a stylish pair of headphones that give great sound for the price. The headphones are sturdy and well-built. The earcups and headband are made of plastic, however, they are sturdy enough to last for many years. The earcups can be adjusted by as much as 15 degrees, so they can be put in the most comfortable position for the majority of ears.

The Audio-Technica ATH-M20x comes with Bluetooth 5.0 that allows you to stream your music wirelessly. They boast a long battery life that can last up to 30 hours of listening time. They come with a USB cable to charge.

The headphones are simple to use. There are three buttons on the the left earcup which let you control playback as well as other functions. You can pause, switch tracks, and alter the volume using these buttons. The ATH M20x comes with built-in microphones for voice commands and calls. The headset comes with a low latency mode which makes it ideal for gaming and video calling.

The ATH-M20x headphones are great for some music genres however, not all. Vocals can sound dull, and there's not much bass. The high frequencies sound crisp and clear. The treble is a standout feature of these headphones. They will be a good choice for pop, classical and jazz.

The ATH-M20x is a lightweight headphone, with a weight of just 190g without the cord. They have a good amount of padding on the earcups however they aren't foldable. They are bulky and will not fit into the backpack or bag. They do not have a detachable cable. Audio-Technica ATH-M40x are a good option for those looking for an audio system that are more portable. It is more comfortable due to its folding design, swiveling earpieces that lay flat, and cables that can be removed. It is more expensive, however, it offers better isolation and more bass.

Skullcandy Dime 2

The Dime 2 is one of the best-sounding earbuds from Skullcandy's true wireless. It comes with a small and compact case that is easy to slip into pockets or purses. It also comes with various sizes of ear gels to accommodate different ears. It's also a little lighter than some of the other wireless earbuds we've tried.

The earbuds have two microphones that are great for capturing your voice and reducing background noise during phone calls. However, they're not suitable for outdoor use because environmental sounds can overtake your voice. The earbuds also struggle with conditions that are windy and can cut parts of your speech.

best over ear wireless headset are excellent sounding despite these minor flaws. They have a clear high-end that doesn't leak into the mids, and they've got a good amount of mid-bass to add some punch to your music.

The AirPod Pro has a dual-tap function that is good however, it isn't as intuitive as the Apple AirPod Pro. You'll need to place your thumb on the stem's bottom for stability, and then press the logo to trigger a command. It's not as flexible as a pinch gesture system, and it's a bit cumbersome.

The earbuds last for about four hours with just one charge. They also have an option to charge them quickly that allows them to last two additional hours. They're also rated IPX4 for resistance to sweat and water. The Earbuds come with a carrying case with two openings for the earbuds and an elastic loop to secure them to your clothes. It's a stylish case that's available in a variety of colors, including Doritos red. On the internet, you can buy them for under $30 USD.
